| Requirement: |
In business since
1857 and a leading supplier of jewellery boxes and packaging to the jewellery
retailers and to the retail industry in general, Phillies was in need
of an enterprise wide system to manage its operations and help plan for
the future. Particular concerns included piecework payroll, volume group
discounts, special pricing for multiple promotions and an ability to respond
to trends quickly and to help cope with seasonal peaks and valleys. In
addition, there was a requirement that the system had to provide fast
response to 30+ users on the machine they had already purchased (a 486).
|
| Solution: |
The Cherniak Software
packaged PowerDRIVE system provided the vast majority of the solution.
In fact, the comprehensive functionality offered by PowerTRADE was the
main reason why PowerTRADE was chosen: in the words of the Information
Systems Manager Mike Schmidt,
| "We've looked
at over 80 Distribution systems, and we've never seen one
with anything close to the richness of functionality
and generality and power your
system has."
|
With some extensions
and enhancements to the PowerDRIVE suite, Cherniak Software responded
to all Phillies' requirements. The intricate pricing and commission structures
were fully addressed as were the complications of the piecework payroll
requirements.
The move to the new system was streamlined with the help of an automatic
data conversion. |
| Result: |
The system was implemented
in accelerated mode to meet an extremely tight schedule in time for Phillies'
short (6 week) peak season: because of a delay of over two months in the
selection of software vendor, there were only six weeks between selection
and `live' date \- and yet the system was ready for use as planned.
The system has functioned as expected, providing good response despite
the heavy user count and handling all the requirements identified by Phillies.
