Mets
Gear needed a system that could facilitate not only its `sales'
business but also its `rental' business. The modus operandi
is that tools rented out get invoiced at the full (sale) price
and, when they are returned, a credit is issued for the difference
between the (sale) price and the rental fee, with possible adjustments
for such things as extra time, excessive use, sharpening, etc.
The complications introduced with the multiplicity of payment
terms (including COD for full amount or partial) and with the
price of a tool decreasing with each usage were substantial.
Mets Gear had to find just the right balance in terms of which
products to stock and which not to stock, as getting an order
so often depended upon having stock on hand and available. In
addition, it was crucial to be able to quickly and effectively
help customers determine exactly what tool gear or tool was
the appropriate one for their needs. |
| Solution: |
The Cherniak
Software packaged PowerDRIVE suite provided the vast majority
of the solution. In fact, the comprehensive functionality offered
by PowerTRADE was the main reason why PowerTRADE was chosen.
Another was the ability of Cherniak Software to address the
complex `rental order' requirements.
With some extensions and enhancements to the PowerDRIVE suite,
Cherniak Software responded to all Mets Gear's requirements.
The complex rental fee and deposit structure were fully addressed
as were the intricacies of the sales analysis with the ramifications
of rentals being converted into sales and vice versa.
The move to the new system was streamlined with the help of
an automatic data conversion. |
| Result: |
The system
is functioning well, allowing the business to grow in revenue
and in profitability, based on the greater sophistication of
information within the system.
